Christian Steinmetz

About

I am a PhD researcher working with Prof. Joshua D. Reiss within the Centre for Digital Music at Queen Mary University of London. I research applications of generative AI and machine learning in audio and my PhD focuses on audio enhancement and automatic control of DSP. I have worked on a wide range of tasks including neural audio effects, audio synthesis, style transfer, room acoustics, self-supervised audio representations, automatic mixing and mastering, speech enhancement, source separation, beat tracking, and neural audio fingerprinting.

I was a research intern at Adobe, Meta, Dolby, Bose, and others. I have published in PMLR, NeurIPS, ICASSP, WASPAA (Best Paper x2), DAFx, and JAES, and won awards for my audio plugins at IEEE and AES. In addition, I have submitted a number of patents related to deep learning systems for audio processing.

Always open to collaboration • You can reach me at c.j.steinmetz@qmul.ac.uk
